Marriott Hotel

To create a new hotel in an emerging section of Dhaka, this project wraps itself in a dramatic exterior screen. Both sun shading device and privacy curtain to shield from future developments, this screen gives the building an iconic presence.

In order to maximise the window to floor ratio and give the rooms a distinct and luxurious feel, the rooms are rotated 90 degrees from typical hotel suites. As the site is quite small, a thinner building profile also permits the plan to wrap around a central interior atrium, increasing floor area and maximising the number of suites. Public spaces are concentrated within this atrium space and visually extend up to amenities on the roof, all sheathed beneath the unifying screen.
